French Cooking Holiday - Sunday
The day of arrival
Please feel free to arrive during the afternoon. 4pm would be
the ideal time but of course we are completely flexible just let
us know your estimated arrival time upon booking. Upon arrival
we will welcome you and show you to your guest rooms to relax
and unwind, come and sit in the garden or take a stroll the
choice is yours onn your French cooking holiday.
Welcome drinks will
be served at 6.00 pm a chance to meet with fellow guests. We
will briefly outline the schedule for the week thus giving you a
chance to ask any questions you may have. At 7.00 a luxury five
course welcome dinner will be served for you.
Continental
breakfast will be served from 8.30 to 9.15am daily in the dining
room or on the terrace, weather dependant
Steaming hot tea,
fresh coffee, hot chocolate, freshly squeezed fruit juices, a
selection of Danish, croissant, brioche and toasts served with
homemade jams and preserves, fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals.
French Cooking Holiday - Monday
The day begins
after breakfast at 9.30 with an orientation session
familiarising your selves with the kitchen and the equipment, a
menu explanation, That is what we will prepare and cook during
the day, followed by a knives skill briefing, basically we want
to make sure that you are comfortable handling our knives and we
will give you tips to help if need be.
Then through out
the duration of the morning together, we will prepare and cook
the chosen lunch menu. We will take you through each stage of
preparation with great care ensuring that you feel fully
confident with what you are creating. At all times we will be
there to guide and answer any questions, to impart knowledge of
the produce used and suggest alternative products that you may
wish to try.
We will of course
have elevenses Tea, coffee juices and home made biscuits.
Together we will
prepare cook and serve lunch for 12.30 where upon you will
retire to the dining room to enjoy the fruits of your labour and
relax with a glass of suitably matched wine
At 1.30 we will
return to the kitchen and start with preparation for the evening
meal. We will take you through each stage of preparation and
cooking. We can talk about what you have learnt so far. At
approximately 4.30 we will break for the afternoon.
Now it’s your turn
to relax for a couple of hours. Feel free to sit or swim, enjoy
a slice of home made cake and a cup of tea in the garden or take
a stroll into the surrounding country side.
At 6.30 pre dinner
drinks will be served on the terrace.
At 7.00 we will
return to the kitchen to finish the cooking for dinner. Where
upon you will happily sit down and relax for the remainder of
the evening with a delicious meal and a glass or two of a
suitably matched beverage.
French Cooking Holiday - Tuesday
After breakfast at
9.30 we will once again take up our positions in the kitchen and
discuss the day’s menus. Together we will guide you through each
stage of preparation and cooking. There may be a demonstration
for you to watch and many tips and tricks to be learnt.
Together we will
prepare, cook, and serve lunch for 12.30pm.Where upon you will
sit relax and enjoy the lunch that you have prepared.
After lunch at
approximately 1.30 we will return to the kitchen and start the
preparation for the evening meal. We may bake cake or biscuits
for the afternoon tea.
At 4.30 we will
once again break for the afternoon, and now it’s your turn to
sit and relax, snooze, swim, or take a drive to one of the many
places to visit in the area.
At 6.30 pre dinner
drinks will be served on the terrace
At 7.00 we will
return to the kitchen to finish the cooking for dinner.
Then sit down
relax, enjoy your meal, taste some local wine and while the
evening away.
French Cooking Holiday - Wednesday
This is a slightly
easier day. We think that you might like to see some of the
beautiful surrounding area and what the Dordogne has to offer.
So after breakfast today at a slightly earlier time of 8.00am.
We invite you to take a tour with us and visit some local places
of interest:
This may include:
A visit to the
truffle museum in Sorges, home of the famous truffle in Perigord,
A visit to the
Maison de Foie gras, where the famous duck liver is produced.
A local farmers
market in Perigueux, where we can buy produce to use later in
the day.
A visit to a local
farm where they produce home made cider and organic flour for
bread which they bake on site.
And even perhaps
crayfish fishing.
We will return home
and a late lunch will have been prepared for you.
After lunch we will
prepare for tonight’s dinner perhaps using some of the
ingredients we have bought at the market.
Then its time to
sit, unwind and relax for a couple of hours
Pre dinner drinks
will be served at 6.30
Once again we will
return to the kitchen to finish cooking: then sit relax and
discuss the day’s events.
Dine and enjoy a
glass of wine or two.
French Cooking Holiday - Thursday
After breakfast we
will discuss the recipes for the day today we will prepare
lunch, bake bread and cakes for afternoon tea, and discuss the
art of putting a menu together.
After lunch we will
continue with more cooking then afternoon tea will be served on
the terrace at 4.30
For dinner this
evening we would like to take you to Le Bistro Escargot to soak up some of the local atmosphere and enjoy
a typical French evening.
French Cooking Holiday - Friday
The final day of
cooking we feel sure that you will be feeling very confident by
now so let’s pull out all the stops and create not only a light
lunch but a fantastic gala dinner for tonight. We will prepare
all the raw ingredients butcher the meat, fillet the fish, start
the preparation of the sauces, create the dessert and petit
fours and bake the bread putting together all the skills you
will have learnt throughout the week.
We will take a
break in the afternoon for you to relax, swim stroll or visit
any of the local places that take your interest, we can
recommend plenty.

Pre dinner drinks
will be served at 6.30
We will return to
the kitchen and finish off the cooking of the gala dinner. Then
its time to congratulate your selves on your fine achievements
throughout the week.. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the evening.
French Cooking Holiday - Saturday
Sadly its time to
depart Take your time enjoy your breakfast.
